On Being a Fashion Blogger

Hf: Why did you first start a fashion blog?

中：為什麼會開這個時尚博客？

MJ：I first started a fashion blog because I felt my heart pounding whenever I saw pretty fashion items. I started looking at various brands and their collections through different channels and began collecting items one by one. I have always wanted to mix and match items and share my ideas and fashion related information to other fashion lovers. Now, I really grew to like operating my blog and love talking to other bloggers online.

中：我會開這個博客是因為當我看到些漂亮的時尚物件時，我便感覺心在噗通噗通地躍動，於是我便開始透過不同頻道去看這些品牌和他們的系列，然後逐一收藏它們。另外我會經常想著如何搭配物件，跟其他時尚愛好者分享我的想法和交流相關資訊，現在我很喜歡打理自己的博客和跟其他博主線上聊天。

Hf：What are the differences between now and when you first started your blog?

中：你覺得現在跟一開始時有什麼分別？

MJ：There are exactly two points that changed. First of all, I became more attached to styling and fashion. My goal became to upload good fashion photos with more unique styling. Second, as my blog grew, I received a lot of invitations to fashion shows and events, enabling me to get closer and faster access to fashion news and opening up opportunities for me to be a part of the fashion industry.

中：確實有兩點很大的轉變，第一是我變得更喜愛風格和時尚，現在我的目標是把更獨特的風格造型的相片上載到網上；第二就是隨著我的博客成長，開始收到很多時尚秀和活動的邀請信，令我可以更近更快地接近到時尚消息，同時創造了機會讓我成為時裝業的一份子。

Hf：What are the merits of being a fashion blogger?

中：成為時尚博主有什麼得著？

MJ：This follows the previous answer, but I became so happy to be a part of the fashion world by attending fashion shows and events. I met so many influential fashion people and other bloggers who always give me new inspirations. I realized how much work it takes to put through a single item or design on a runway. Being a blogger means I could share all these fashion knowledge to other people. It is indeed a very interesting thing to do.

中：正如之前所說，能夠成為時裝業的一份子和出席不同的時尚秀和活動我感到非常高興，使我能夠遇到不少具影響力的時尚人物和給我意念的博主，我了解到一件單品從設計到走天橋要花多少心機去完成。成為博主就可以這把這些知識跟其他人分享，是件很有趣的事。

Hf：How does a normal day as a fashion blogger go like?

中：時尚博主的一天是怎樣的呢？

MJ：I wake up and check my emails every morning. Since I have a lot of meetings and schedules, I tend not to over-attend events to focus more on my blog postings. I usually attend events that I feel like I could truly enjoy them. I also spend a lot of time in the dressroom deciding my outfit of the day. I normally start blog postings at night.

中：每天早上我會先查看email，因為有很多會議和行程，我傾向不會參與太多活動，而是放更多心機在我的博客上，通常我只會參與一些我真的會享受他們的活動。我也會花很多時間在更衣室去決定當天穿什麼，通常到晚上才會開始在博客寫文。

Hf：Who are you favorite designers?

中：最喜歡的設計師是？

MJ：This is so tough. I have so many! I like designers who have their own distinct features and unique mood, but to pick a few…

中：這個真的有點難選呢，我有很多都喜歡！我喜歡那些有與眾不同的特點和獨特情感的設計師，但要選的話我會選這幾位。

1.   Tom Ford： Tom Ford is a wonderful designer, but ‘Tom Ford’ is a brand itself. He launches alluring, luxurious and sexy collections with perfection. Even though I am a woman, his suits are so enthralling. No single man would go wrong with his suits.

他是位出色的設計師，但他自己本身也是個品牌， 他推出的那些迷人高貴又帶性感的系列總是很完美，即使我是女性，我也覺得他的西裝非常吸引，沒一個男人穿上他的西裝會出錯。

2.   Christopher Kane: Christopher Kane’s collections are always breathtaking. I think he is a great designer who has a creative mind, able to make a great silhouette. His collections are quite unique and sometimes shocking, but at the same time high end and wearable, providing some fun to look or even to wear.

他的系列經常讓人讚歎，他是位充滿創意又能創造出色輪廓的設計師。他的設計頗為獨特，有時候還會讓你震驚，但卻不失高檔和可穿性，為你平日的造型或穿著帶來點樂趣。

3. Hedi Slimane: I think the charm of fashion was watching Hedi Slimane rebrand Yves Saint Laurent label to one of the hottest and ‘hip’ brands in fashion history. It is indeed thrilling and exciting to watch how a brand’s image can be shaped so much with a touch of a single designer. I’m personally not a big fan of rock chic or the biker look, but I have always wanted to wear Hedi Slimane’s ripped jeans. I also love his clean cut coats and bags which have a different charm than those based on the biker look. As long as Hedi Slimane is at the creative director of YSL, Yves Saint Laurent is one of the brands I want to try on the most.

中：我想時尚的魔力就是欣賞著Hedi Slimane把Yves Saint Laurent重新包裝成時裝史上最紅、最hip的品牌，看著一位設計師如何去塑造一個品牌形象永遠是件令人振奮和刺激的事。雖然我個人其實不是搖滾風或是機車風的粉絲，但其實我也很想穿下Hedi Slimane的Ripped Jeans，另外我也很喜歡他那種剪裁俐落的大衣，有著有別於機車風的吸引力。只要Hedi Slimane還是YSL的創意總監，YSL也就是我最想嘗試的品牌。

Hf：What do you think the next 2015 S/S trend will be?

中：你認為明年的春夏潮流會流行什麼？

MJ：I think the two most important points of 2015 S/S will be denim and floral printing. Floral printings have been loved at every SS season, but I think the next SS season will foresee more flamboyant patterns. Celine, a leading brand in minimalism with their famous ‘Chic = minimal’ catchphrase, has presented blouse and skirts in floral printings for the next season. I am already hyped up for the upcoming 2015 SS season because it seems like we women could get access to a wider variety of floral printed clothes. Floral prints are women’s romantic ideals in spring and summer, after all.

中：我想明年春夏潮流的重點會放在丹寧和印花之上。印花在每年的春夏季節都會大行其道，但我認為明年春夏將會見到更誇張的圖案，而作為極簡主義領導品牌，以「Chic=Minimal」為口號的Celine就已率先為大家展示了明年的印花襯衫和裙子。我已經為2015年春夏感到刺激，看來我們女性終於走進印花衣服的世界，畢竟印花在春夏間對女性來說是非常浪漫的理想選擇。

MJ：And of course, Denim. It’s a steady item, but the usage of denim fabric in the 2015 S/S season seems to be more unique and varied. Feminine brands such as Stella McCartney, Fendi, Chloe and Leonard have shown denim jump suits already. I am also thinking of styling denim jump suits in a feminine way, not casually anymore. It’s already on my bucket list!

中：當然還有丹寧這歷久不衰的單品，來年的丹寧布料將會更加獨特和多變。像女性品牌如Stella McCartney, Fendi, Chole和Leonard就已經先行展示了丹寧連身衣。我也在想如何可以把丹寧連身衣穿得更女性化，而不再是隨性，不過它已在我的目標清單了！

Hf：Who’s your style icon?

中：你是時尚偶像是誰？

MJ：Nick Wooster. Since I am not that tall, I admire Nick Wooster who showed the world that short men can also be stylish. He is charismatic and has good skills of layering. I actually grew to like him more after talking to him briefly at the Nick Wooster X IL CORSO collaboration party.

中：由於我本來就不高，我很佩服Nick Wooster向世界展示了矮男一樣可以穿得很時尚。他很有吸引力而且有很好的層次技巧，自之前在Nick Wooster X IL CORSO的派對上與他談過後，我就更加喜歡他了。

The items I can’t live without/ 生活中不能缺少的物品

MJ：Basic t-shirt and top with good fabric and silhouette. Even if I have a lot of fancy items, the styling is not complete without basic items. A basic top can be worn anywhere in any look, and will look good whatsoever.

中：有好布料和好剪裁的普通T-shirt，即使我有很多想要的物件，但風格上總不能候少了些基本物件。

一件好的上衣穿在任何造型也可很好看。

The style/item that I don’t like／ 我不喜歡的風格／物品

MJ：I like a wide range of styles such as casual, minimal and feminine, but I don’t like too funky styles or items that have a bad silhouette. I think silhouette is the most important factor in clothing, so if I see an item that is very detailed but has a horrible silhouette, then I would lose interest instantly.

中：我喜歡的風格很廣，如便裝、極簡風和女性風我都喜歡，但我不太喜歡剪裁差又太時髦的風格。我認為剪裁是衣服重要的一環，如果我看到的一件物品它有不少細節位但剪裁不行，我會馬上失去興趣。

Hf：How long have you lived in Seoul?

中：你在首爾住了多久？

MJ：I was born and raised in Seoul, but went to study abroad in the States when I was in middle school. I came back to Seoul for university but now I reside in Yongin, a city located at the south of Seoul.

中：我在首爾出生和長大，但我中學時到了美國讀書，到大學時又回到首爾，但現在我住在首爾南部的龍仁市。

Hf：Where’s your favorite place?

中：你最喜歡的地方在那裡？

MJ：I like home the most. I do go to a lot of events, but I am the happiest and I feel most comfortable when I’m at home. I spend time by myself or with my puppies when I’m at home alone.

中：我最喜歡就是家，雖然我經常去不同(地方的)活動，但在家才是我最高興和舒服的時候，當我一個人在家時，通常會自己花點時間或是與我的小狗玩。

Hf：Where do you think is the best place for a date?

中：你認為那裡是最好的約會地點？

MJ：Outskirts. You can get away from the bustling city and relax. There are lots of good places to drive around and explore good food in the outskirts.

中：郊區，你可以遠離一下繁忙的城市，在這放鬆放鬆，郊區有不少好地方讓你駕車到處去和好吃的。

Hf：How about for a night out?

中：那麼晚上又如何呢？

MJ：I thought clubs were the hottest places for a night out till not too long ago. However, now I think I would most probably spend a night out at a hotel bar with good music and a nice night view.

中：不久之前我會認為俱樂部是晚上玩樂最受歡迎的地方，不過現在我選擇到有美妙音樂和夜景的酒店吧台渡過一晚。

Hf：Where do you want to travel next?

中：下一次旅行想到那裡？

MJ：Milano with no doubt. I liked resorts so always went on holiday trips to tropical places. I went to Milano once with parents when I was in high school, but that was when I didn’t have much interest in fashion. Next destination, though, would be Milano to explore fashion on hand!

中：肯定是米蘭，我也很喜歡渡假旅館所以我會經常去一些熱帶地方。我高中時跟我家人去過一次米蘭，不過當時對時尚什麼的沒很大興趣，不過下次到米蘭就會探索一下周圍的時尚。
