Let 美人: 整容=終生美麗?透視韓國整容節目

Korean girls are known for their glamorous looks – thanks to the famous idol stars – but sadly enough, Korean girls are also known for their ‘fake’ pretty looks with the help of plastic surgery. While plastic surgery addiction and side effects from plastic surgery rose as a major social issue in Korea, there are people who are in desperate need for plastic surgery where their ‘ugly’ looks have become depression factors to them.

拜韓國偶像明星的福,韓國女生總是明艷照人、魅力滿點。不幸的是,韓國女生也是出名愛「整」,你看到的也許是一張假臉⋯⋯這種整容風氣和整容所帶來的副作用已經成為韓國的社會問題,部分人甚至因為認為自己「醜」而感到絕望,渴求得到整容的機會。

Let Me In (Let 美人), a Korean plastic surgery TV program features men and women from all over the world pleading the panels their case for surgery. This program was first premiered on 2 December 2011 and has been extended to the fourth season so far, and has been met with both acclaim and criticism.

《Let Me In》 (Let 美人) 是韓國一個整容電視節目,全球不少男女都會慕名而來,為的就是得到一個整容的機會。節目自2011年12月首播以來就大受歡迎,雖然受到不少批評,但現在已來到第四季,依然充滿話題。

The show started off with Korean women accounting for most of the applicants, but later on the trend switched to Korean men applying even more than Korean women, to now where overseas participants are also guaranteed chances for a life-long makeovers.

一開始報名參加的大多以韓國女性為主,但後來參加的男性竟然比女性還多,現在就連海外參加者亦有望得到整容的機會。

Once picked, the lucky makeover woman/man will go through a series of plastic surgeries by several of the renowned plastic surgery surgeons in Gangnam area. Since plastic surgery TV advertisements are banned in Korea, the makeover candidate would have to give full rights to the surgeons to use their makeover process such as the before and after photos in banner advertisements in return for their makeovers. In fact, a popular makeover woman from season 2 can be seen all around Gangnam area, especially in underground metro board advertisements.

一旦被選中,該名幸運兒就能夠到江南地區的整容診所進行一系列的整容手術。由於韓國禁止在電視上播出任何關於整容的廣告,參與整容的人必須同意整容診所有權把其過程(如整容前、整容後的照片)放到廣告橫額上,而事實上,確實有參與者被放到廣告上,例如第二季的參與者就在江南地區隨處可見,尤其在地鐵的廣告板。

Some criticise Let Me In for attributing to an image-centered society where the ‘good looks’ are already valued. Others back up the programme and the makeover men and women, saying that these people are the ones who are in actual need of plastic surgery, not ordinary people who are good looking enough.

有批評就把節目的出現歸咎於外表主導的社會,認為好看就會獲得尊重,但支持者則認為這些人確實有需要進行整容,而不是那些已經夠好看的人。
